Jogging every day for 2 weeks makes me an expert, right?

Maybe not, but I wanted to write about 3 simple rules I’ve been following to help me become a runner. I’m no expert, but I want to share what has been working for me.

The internet is full of article that will teach you how to start jogging. I’ll list a few at the bottom of this post, but first I want to give you my advice.

3 Simple Rules For Becoming A Runner

  1. Start today. This may be too simple, but for me this was always the biggest struggle. Yes, it may be bad weather and your running shoes may not be just right. No excuses - just get out the door. Run down to the end of the block and limp back if you have to. Everything depends on your willpower to get out the door.
  2. Jog (or walk) every day. Exercise should not be optional. Even if you do not have the fitness level for a daily run, at least get out and walk a mile. This will build self control and routine into your life.
  3. Set big and little goals. Maybe you are trying to run a full mile for the first time, or maybe your dreaming of a PR in the marathon. Either way, you need to be working toward short term and long term objectives. This will keep motivated to get out the door. Which, of course, is rule #1.

Now some links to help you start jogging.
